Vegas Baby Vegas Part 2: The Pilgramage to Dulles Airport

NOTE: I apologize in advance for the poor spelling in this post. I'm on a mobile device and don't have access to spell checker.

I'm coming to you live from the 5A bus from Rosslyn metro stop to Dulles Airport. I've never written a post on my blackberry before, but since we are crawling along in traffic somewhere on I-66 (i think) I figured now is as good a time as ever to update.

Somehow I managed to finish packing in a timely manner this morning, and I decreased the panic of forgetting something prior to leaving.

There are two ways of getting to Dulles, I opted for cheaper way, the metro bus. The 5A is normally a thing of beauty. Its a souped (sp?) up version of a normal metro bus. I have never had a complaint about the 5A.

Until today.

Because today also happened to be the first traveling experience that required a suitcase bigger than a duffel bag in probably 5 years. Having not taken the 5A with a huge bag, I never realized how horribly inadequate the luggage storage is. I could have sworn there was storage for my bag at the front of the bus. There isnt. My only option is to deadlift my 40 bag into the overhead storage without accidentally droping it on some poor unsuspecting elderly woman (fail), or to be that obnoxious guy who sits his bag on his seat.

I opted for the later. So i've got about half a seat to rest in for the 45 minute trip to Dulles.

Moral of the Story: if you dont have a lot of luggage, take the 5A. If youy have lots of luggage, spring for the Wasington Flyer.

While i was en route, or packing, or something, the Red Sox decided to spring for 85 year old pitcher John Smolz and injury prone outfielder Rocco Baldelli. Have two moves ever been made that so obviously screamed, "we have to keep pace with the Yankees!@!*" Its a shame its probably too early in Vegas to wager on who will win the AL East. I'd throw my life savings on the Yankees.

OK, we have hit open road and i think i'm getting motion sickness. Should anything exciting happen between now and tomorrow, i'll update again.
